Bernave Avenicio Sedillo, 79, of Springer, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Walsenburg, Colo. He was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Colmor, the son of Juan and Beatrice Perea-Sedillo. Mr. Sedillo was in law enforcement for many years, a rancher and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Madeline Lopez and Loretta Trujillo, one brother, Juan M. Sedillo, and one son, Michael T. Sedillo.

He is survived by one daughter, Victoria Baxter of Springer; one son, Bernave R. Sedillo and wife Catherine of Cimarron; two sisters, Gloria Sanford and husband Wilbur of Felt, Okla., and Mary Francis Shaw and husband Jim of Raton; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation was Sept. 17 at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Springer Cemetery.

Arrangements and celebration of love for Bernave Avenicio Sedillo are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
