Rose Lee Brogdon
oct. 9, 1933 - Sept. 17, 2012
Rose died Monday, at her home in Ceres, surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her husband Prince D Brogdon, her son Andrew Brogdon, great grandson Jacob Link, and a sister, Peggy Anstine.
Rose was born on her grandparent's farm, outside of Nevada, Missouri, to Joseph Hanson and Beryl Donner Hanson. She was the third of nine children. Although the family moved frequently, the last move was to Modesto. Rose graduated from Modesto High in 1951 and in December of that year she married Prince D Brogdon.
Rose began working at Modesto State Hospital in 1962 and soon after began her education to become a registered nurse. After obtaining her degree she continued working at the State Hospital in Modesto, later transferring to Stockton State Hospital where she worked until she retired. She also worked at several local hospitals long after her retirement from State service. Rose also traveled to Thailand twice with a medical group that provided care in some of the Thai villages. Continuing her world travel she also made a trip to Italy.
Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a good and helpful friend to many. Her smiles and laughter will be sorely missed.
Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Laura and Bob Fish, her son and daughter-in-law Guy and Ruth Brogdon, her son Steven Brogdon, her son and daughter-in-law Terry and Debbie Brogdon, and her son Roger Brogdon. She also leaves five sisters, two brothers, eighteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, September 21st, at 11:00 a.m. at the Franklin and Downs Chapel, 2561 5th Street, Ceres, California.
The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Rose's name in lieu of flowers.
