Roy William Aday, 87, of Russellville, passed away September 14, 2012 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Winganon, OK in 1925 to Henry & Tera Aday. He was married to Delphine Huber in 1946.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gerald Aday, a grandson Aaron Aday, 5 brothers Horace Aday and wife Helen, Curtis Aday and wife Elizabeth, Narvil Aday, Cotton Aday, Jimmy Aday, and a sister Oneida Layton and husband Ernie. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters-in-law Virginia Aday and Betty Aday and 4 brothers-in-law Lloyd Wood, Johnny Jacobs, Larry Garrett and Jack Huber.

Roy is survived by his wife of 65 years Delphine Aday, 3 daughters Sharon Gleason and husband Tommy of Wichita, KS, Janet Parks and husband Edward of Dardanelle, AR and Rhonda Dare and husband David of Dardanelle, AR. Grandsons Darin Gleason and wife Jami of Shawnee, KS, Steven Gleason and wife Brandy of Oakdale, CA, Jason Aday and wife Heather of Parker, CO, Marcus Aday of Wichita, KS, Michael Parks and wife Kathy of Dardanelle, AR, Cody Dare and wife Jamie of Russellville, AR, and Jesse Dare of Dardanelle, AR. Six Brothers David of Bonner Springs, KS, Walter and wife Naomi of Chanute, KS, Wilford and wife Janice of Chanute, KS, Harold of Wellington, KS, Billy and wife Gail of Denton, TX and Russell and wife Billie of Ponca City, OK. Sisters-in-law Rua Aday, Mary Jo Aday, Gracie Wood, Dorothy Jacobs, Barbara Huber, Alene McClain, Margie St. John and husband Ralph and "Tudy" Ruth Garrett. Great-grandchildren are Ryan, Zach, Gavin, Avery, Emma, Lilly, Alyssa, Piper, and Mikey.

Roy was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Russellville, Bright Star Masonic Lodge #213 in Dardanelle, For many years he was the church treasurer and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Dardanelle. Roy retired after 31 years working for the Corps of Engineers as an operator at the Dardanelle Dam. His favorite job in retirement was working as the corresponding secretary and fair chairman for the Arkansas Valley Arts and Crafts Club, where he coordinated the crafts fair at the Tucker Coliseum each fall. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Medical Corp.

Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service in Russellville, AR. Visitation will be at Shinn on Sunday 9/16 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral service will be at the Second Baptist Church on Monday at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle, AR. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, AR 72801. Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141 in Dardanelle.
