George Pickel (Pickle) and Elizabeth Mary "Polly" (Apple) Pickel (Pickle) were born in Brush Valley(then) Berks County, Pennsylvania in the Northeast part of Centre County, Pennsylvania. They with other Pennsylvania Dutch and German moved around 1800-1810 to Clermont County, Ohio, near the villages of Withamsville and Olive Branch, About 1835, they moved near Oaklandon, Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana. George was accidently killed while clearing trees for their homestead. Polly remarried to George Brown.
