Both George Pickle and Elizabeth Mary "Polly" (Apple) Pickle were born in (then) Berks, PA, in Brush Valley in the NE part of Center County, PA. They and other in that Pennsylvania Dutch and German community moved around 1800-1810 to Clermont County, Ohio, near the villages of Withamsville and Olive Branch. Later, around 1835 they moved to near Oaklandon, Indiana where George was accidentally killed while felling trees to clear his homestead. "Polly" remarried to George Brown.
