Jack Shirley Looney, age 84, of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Wellmont Hospice House.
He was born August 7, 1928 to the late Shirley Looney and Janie Braswell Looney.
He had lived in the Bristol area most of his life and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Jack was a graduate of Auburn University and was retired from Champion International Paper Company.
He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Winifred "Winky" Looney, a brother-in-law, Bill Clapper, and his wife, Nancy Ann Looney.

Daughters: Sylvia Majercik, Dianne Parker and husband Mike
Sons: Garry Hobbs and wife Sherry, Michael Hobbs and wife Brenda, Tim Hobbs and wife Tina, Bradley Hobbs and Frances
Grandchildren: Christina Taylor and husband Greg, Amanda Slone and husband Marty, Timmy Hobbs and wife Ashton, Jennifer Mehaffey and husband Chris, Kimberly Travis and husband William, Amy Dotson, Josh Hobbs, Christian Lowry Hobbs

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Collins officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 prior to the funeral service.
The committal service and burial will be at 2:00 on Sunday in Mendota Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by DAV Chapter 40 Bristol Virginia.
