MRS. STEELE
Mrs. Lucie Chaney Steele, 86, of 402 E. Virginia St., died at 10 p.m. Thursday at her residence following an extended illness.
Owners of Steele's Jewelry Store and Gift Shop, Mrs. Steele had been a resident of Victoria since 1925. She was born Aug. 25, 1888, in Butler, Ala., to the late William and Lucie William Watters.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Fred Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nelson Ponthieux officiating. burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Henry Allen, Howard P. Harvey, Stanley Bournias, William Morrison, DuWard Ford and Kyle Hardesty.
The family has requested that in lieu of the usual remembrances contributions be made to Second Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Karl Watterson of Littleton, Colo., and a son, Dr. Allan Steele of Victoria.
