HICKORY Graveside services for Edmond Carney, 70, will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Hickory Cemetery with the Rev. Albert Simon officiating. Born on Aug. 25, 1937, in Hickory, to Sampson and Susie Williams Carney, he died on Aug. 28, 2007, in Ada. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, the former Louise Thompson; a son, Edmond Wayne Carney Jr.; his parents; and a brother, Virgil Daniel Carney.

Edmond was self-employed in the lawn care and landscaping business and worked throughout the Ardmore community. He played guitar and sang in bands that performed at local churches. He played throughout Oklahoma. He enjoyed playing horseshoes. He was a member of Pickens Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Sam Martin Carney, Ardmore; an aunt, Martha Lou Carney Willmond, Tahlequah; longtime friends and fellow musicians, Donald Joe and Audie John; numerous friends and relatives and his seven cats.

Honorary bearers are Mark Joe, Craig Wallace, Eugene Willmond, Donald Joe and Audie John.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
