The body of First Lt. Willis Poteet, whose plane had been missing from Moore Field Air Base [near Mission, Hidalgo Co., Texas] since last Sunday, was found Tuesday near the wreckage of the plane.
He was the son of Mrs. Bessie M. Poteet, 402 Locust, Pueblo, CO. His father Thomas Franklin Poteet, died in 1939.
Lieutenant Poteet was born in Nepesta [Pueblo Co., CO] and attended Central High School. He was graduated in 1940 and was employed by the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Oct 26, 1942.
He was a past Master Councilor of the Order of DeMolay as well as Scribe and Chevalier.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Franklin R. Poteet assigned to the U.S. Naval radio station at Annapolis, Md.
His body will be returned to Pueblo for services and interment.
