Following an illness of one week, Frank Bitner, aged 26 years, passed away at the William Gebrig home, 412 East First St., at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, death resulting from scarlet fever. Mr. Bitner, with his wife and two children, came to Grand Island only two weeks ago, securing rooms at the Gerbig home. At that time there was a case of sickness upstairs, which fact, although unknown to them at the time, was later ascertained. Since then, three of the members of the Gerbig family have likewise taken sick with scarlet fever and the home has been placed under quarantine. Mr. Bitner, an electrical engineer, had been employed at the Grand Island Canning factory since coming here from Lakeside, Neb., two weeks ago. Besides the bereaved widow and two children, a boy and a girl, he is survived by several brothers and one sister. Definite arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been made pending the arrival of relatives.
