Ethel Belle Lucas was born August 28, 1913 in Asher, Oklahoma to Mary Nix and John J. Simpson and passed away in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 27 days. Ethel moved with her parents to the Crawford community in 1928 where she has remained to make her home. She was married to Jack Lucas in the home of Rev. Goin of Crawford, OK on October 23, 1932. To this union two children were born, Charles Ray and Mary Louise. Ehtel reported the Crawford news to the area newspaper for a number of years. She was a member of the Art Guild, Roll Quilting Club, in which she had served as President, and also enjoyed china painting. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Baptist Church in El Dorado, OK. She later joined the Magnolia Baptist Church of Crawford where she has served since. She was preceded in death bvy her parents, husband, 1 son, Charles Ray Lucas, 1 grandson, Jimmy Lucas and 1 brother, Robert L. Simpson. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and George Carpenter, Maysville, OK, 1 daughter-in-law, Donna Lucas, Crawford, OK, 3 grandchildren, Penny Clifton, Maysville, OK, Charolet Lucas, Cheyenne, OK, Jacie Lucas, Oklahoma City, OK, 3 great grandchildren, Colton Clifton, Amry Green, Lindy Lucas, 2 great great grandchildren, Katie and Olivia Green and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 27, 2000 at the Crawford Magnolia Baptist Church, Crawford, Oklahoma with Ray Smart and Terry Beals officiating. Interment in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Oklahoma with Rose Chapel Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Billy McGlothlin, David Wright, Terry Keahey, Larry McGlothlin, Jerry Wilson, Richard Keahey.
