1/20/1972- Tuttle Times:
Last rites were held for Mrs Carrie Medkief, 77, Monday in the Sowers Memorial chapel of the Sevier Tuttle funeral home, with Rev Roger Chancellor officiating, assisted by Carl Polsley. Mrs Medkief died Saturday, Jan 15, of an apparent heart attack. She had been in failing health the past year.
She was born 5/4/1895 in Hillsboro, Tex and came to Tuttle from Hobart in 1934. She married Henry Medkief at Hollis in 1927. He preceded her in death in 1968. They were farmers most of their lives and retired in 1941. A trio from the Christian church, accompanied by Mrs Hunk Cobble, organist, provided the music. Pallbearers were James Jenkins, Eddie Jenkins, Tony Jenkins, Bill Jenkins, & J.D. Ryan.
Survivors are 2 brothers, Jake Jenkins of Stanford, Tex, & Floyd Jenkins of Lubbock, Tex, 4 sisters, Mrs Minnie Ridings of Tuttle, Mrs Gladys Stephens of Lelia Lake, Tex, Mrs Hattie Lawley of Fairfield, Calif, & Nelie Jenkins of Oklahoma City & Tuttle.
Interment was in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of the Sevier Tuttle funeral home.
