Lloyd E. "Sport" Cary, 89, of LeGrand, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center.

Lloyd was born on November 12, 1922, the son of Art and Edith (Pfeaster) Cary near Sigourney, Iowa. He graduated from the LeGrand High School in 1940.

On January 24, 1944, he was united in marriage to Eva Sorensen. They made their home in LeGrand where they raised three sons.

Lloyd was a 43 year devoted employee of Fisher Controls and was often found around his home working or in his shop. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and target shooting.

Left to cherish his memory are Eva, his loving wife of 68 years, two sons: Steven (Linda) Cary and David (Karen) Cary, sister Juanita (Lauren) Himes, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Pam Morris and many nieces and nephews.

In death, he rejoined his parents, two brothers Harold and Glen, and a son Kevin who died in 1976.

He was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Mike Himes, Pat Himes, Jeff Himes, Craig Cary, Stephen Wilbanks, Jim Foster and Glenn Cary. Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Duke, Ward Sheldon, Dean Mitchell, Mike Keen and Michael Cary.

Groups from the LeGrand Friends Church, Fisher Controls, Southridge Nursing & Rehab. and Hospice were in attendance.
