Joseph Parren died yesterday at his home a few miles north of Three Oaks of cancer of the bowels, from which he had been a great, though patient, sufferer for more than a year. The deceased was born in Canada May 18, 1839, and was married in St. Joseph, Mich, in 1864, to Miss Mary Tatro, to which union there were born eleven children, seven of whom are living and six of whom reside near the parental home. They are Joseph, George, Charles, Albert, Henry (of Benton Harbor), Agnes and William. Mrs. Parren entered the eternal rest fifteen years ago.
The funeral will be held in the late home of the deceased tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Rev. Father Koenig of St. Mary's church in charge. Burial in Riverside cemetery." From The Acorn, January 11, 1907, page 1
