Herman D. "Abe" Abraham, age 86, of Council Bluffs, passed away September 1, 2012 at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.

Abe was born March 8, 1926 in Red Oak, Iowa to the late Herman and Anna L. (Bjorn) Abraham. He attended school in Red Oak and served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marines and Coast Guard during WWII. Abe married Marjorie Bishop on November 17, 1948 in Red Oak. He served on the Red Oak Police Department and Fire Dept. before working as a plant guard for Western Electric in Omaha. After his retirement, Abe worked at Council Bluffs Savings Bank and Grace Bible College. Abe was a member of Valley View Baptist Church; honorary life member of Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers, Inc.; Police Officers Association of Nebraska; Iowa Firemen's Association; AF&AM #162 in Red Oak; lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Handyman Club of America.

In addition to his parents, Abe was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison Abraham and his sister, Margaret Buckley.

Abe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marge Abraham; daughters, Susan J. (David) Anson, Paula M. (Tom) Houvenagle all of Council Bluffs; sons, Russ (Linda) Abraham of Citrus Heights, Calif., Mike (Geri) Abraham of Colorado Springs Col.; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
