Information from "Known Burials of Morehouse Parish," shows Mary Ann Newman to be buried at Douglas Cemetery and was 58 years old. I do not know what the age was based on.

Advertised to offer for sale at public auction in pursuance of the advise of a family meeting and a decree of the court after the legalities had advertisements posted at the Court House on the 12 of September until the 14 October 1835 in French and English that all the property, real and personal composing the estate and possessions of Mary Ann Newman late of this Parish deceased. (Here is mentioned time to pay credit arrangements)

William A. Doles purchased tract of land situated on Eastern bank of Bayou Bartholomew containing 130 acres, the same on which decedent last resided for the sum on $1,036. Lewis Squires purchased household goods for $131.50. Lovett Newman purchased household goods for $67.00 Jacob Stockman purchased household goods for $111.25 Jonathan Newman purchased household goods for $16.00 John Stother purchased household goods for $25.00. Lemuel Newman purchased household goods for $5.00.
