Rachel Harrod is the daughter of Rebecca Burge and Levi Harrod who was the first settler in Knox County Ohio having located in Mt. Vernon. He entered 600 acres of land and his family was among the prominent ones of the county and state. Rachel married Absalom Tipton and to this union were born Rebecca, Elijah, David, and Ireness. They migrated to DeKalb County, Missouri where Absalom died in 1874. She married Andrew Cornelison August 10, 1882 in Winslow, DeKalb County, Missouri.
