Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home for Emory I. Axtell, 45, of Williamsburg, la., former resident of this area, who died at 10 p.m. Friday at the Veterans hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Lester Moore, Methodist minister, officiated. Burial was at Greenwood cemetery.
Mr. Axtell was born March 4, 1909, at Columbus Junction, the son of Perry E. and Martha Kemp Axtell, He lived in this area until five years ago when he moved to Williamsburg. He was a member of the American Legion post at Moline.
Surviving are two brothers, Lloyd Axtell of Williamsburg, and Roy Axtell; one sister, Mrs. Edith Halas, North English, la.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
