Alfred Atkins, 66, of 1728 Palm
street, died at 2 a. m. today at Mus-
catine General hospital. He had been
in failing health for several days
following a sudden heart attack.
Mr. Atkins was born April 16, 1893
at Rochester, Ia. He was retired from
the Huttig Sash & Door Co. where he
had worked a number of years. He was
a member of the Lincoln Blvd. Baptist
church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel;
four sons, Clarence of Muskegon, Mich.,
Alfred with the U S. Airforce in Alas-
ka, Albert of Muscatine, and Ray with
the U S. Airforce in California: five
daughters, Mrs. Kirk Stickrod of Mus-
catine, Mrs. William Estabrook of Mus-
catine, Mrs. Robert Nicholay of White-
hall, Mich., Mrs. Jack Herlein of Mus-
catine, and Dorothy Jean at home; four
brothers, Roy and Harry of Muscatine,
Clifford of Fairport and Delbert of
California; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby
Duffield of Muscatine and Mrs. John
Burroughs of Oxford Junction; 20 grand-
children, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his par-
ents, one son, three brothers, and
one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. Monday at the Riley funeral home.
Rev. Emmett Barnes, paster of the
Lincoln Blvd. Baptist church, will
officiate. Interment is to be at
Greenwood cemetery.
