Sad Death of Mrs. Frank Payne.

Mrs. Frank Payne died at her home, 645 Reil St., Waterloo, Iowa, Thursday evening, August 22, 1907, after an illness of three weeks of cancer of the stomach. The husband and five children are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.

Nancy Caroline Ross was born May 29, 1863, in Jackson county,Iowa. One year later her parents removed to Jones county, Iowa, and settled near Langworthy where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Frank Payne, September 27, 1882, at Monticello. To this union were born five children, three boys and two girls, all of whom with the husband survive. The children are Mrs. William Fairburn, Leo, Raymond, Frank and Jennie, all residents of Waterloo. The two latter are at home with the father. Mrs. Payne had been in failing health for a number of years, but bore her suffering patiently and with Christian fortitude. During her last illness she realized that death was near, but was willing to go, and be at rest. She was a loving wife and mother, and found her greatest pleasure and happiness in her home. She was a kind neighbor and a true friend, and will be deeply mourned by those who knew her. She was laid to rest Saturday afternoon, in Fairview cemetery, Rev. Keller conducting the funeral services.
