Samuel Bacon married Hannah Flogdale in Norfolk, England around 1820. Together they had eight children. When Hannah died following the birth of her last child, Hannah, widower Samuel brought seven children from their marriage to from Norwich, Canada about 1835. They settled in Madoc Twp., Hastings Co., Ontario. He then married Julia Ann Abrahams Remington in 1843, and had three children with her. Samuel is said to have died while on his way home carrying a Christmas goose under his arm in Madoc, Ontario, of a sudden heart attack. Upon his death there was a squabble over who should be entitled to his estate. He still had 5 living children by Hannah Flogdale, and Charles Wesley by Julia Ann. Charles Wesley saw to it that his mom got the estate. This may have caused a family split which drove some of Hannah's children to America while others stayed in Canada, moving N. & W. towards the Vancouver, BC area. He had farmed out several children to other families following Hannah's death, and they were raised there.
