The son of Charles "Carl" Bader and Kathrina "Kate" Benz, Charles married Mary E. Emerick on 15 Nov 1903 in Calhoun County, Illinois. They were the parents of at least 6 children.

Mary passed away in 1955, and Charles made his home in Kampsville, Calhoun County, Illinois during his later years.

At the time of his death at Jersey Community Hospital, Charles was 82 years old. He was survived by 3 sons, Norris of Florida, Lee of Alton, and Tracey of Jerseyville; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Fannie Howdeshell of Eldred, Illinois.

In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Vincent; and 2 daughters who died in very early childhood.

Funeral services were conducted on the afternoon of 17 Sep 1958 at the Presbyterian Church in Kampsville.

Charles' grandson, Bryan A. Bader, was buried at Hardin Cemetery after he was killed in an accident in 1963.
