William H. Burke, 62, of near Kemptown, husband of Laura A. Burke, died Sunday at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was born near Kemptown, a son of Mrs. Mattie Sier Burke of Frederick and the late A. Cole Burke.
He was employed as a painter. He was a very active member of the Providence United Methodist Church of Kemptown. He was first vice-president of the New Market Lions Club.
Besides his wife and mother, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Edward Thompson of near Kemptown; one son, Charles A. Burke of near Kemptown; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home in Damascus from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Services will held at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth L. Beale will officiate. Interment will be in Providence Methodist Cemetery.
