Charles A. "Buddy" Burke, 82, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at his home in Monrovia, Maryland. He was the beloved husband of Jeanette H. Burke, his wife of 61 years.
Born December 5, 1933 in Kemptown, he was a son of the late William H. and Laura Riggs Burke. Buddy was a lifelong member of the Providence United Methodist Church. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1952.
After graduation, Buddy was employed at Martin's Dairy and G.D. Armstrong Tire Company. When the opportunity arose, he began employment at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory where he remained for 36 years, beginning June 8, 1960. He participated in almost every space department project that APL participated in until his retirement in June 28, 1996.
Some of Buddy's special interests were the family Christmas tree farm where he was a member of the Maryland Christmas Tree Association, hunting, fishing, camping and bowling.
Surviving besides his wife Jeanette are two children: Sandy Burke of Monrovia, and John Burke with wife Tanya, also of Monrovia. Three granddaughters: Lauren Michele Burke, with significant other Joseph Ingegneri and two great grandchildren, Jaidyn Aubrey Ingegneri and Joseph Anthony Ingegneri, Corinne Michele Burke and her fiancé, Michael Brandon Thompson, and Jessica Michele Burke. He is also remembered by Garrett Allen Geisler. He is preceded in death by a sister Kitty Thompson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 7, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Kemptown Cemetery.
