Dolly Malody was born in February 27, 1933 in Cheyenne, Wyoming the youngest of six children born to John and Carrie (Freudenthal) Laycock. Her early years were spent on ranches in East Laramie County and along the Sybille Canyon. She attended rural schools, and at one time, she and her brother were the only students in that country school, and her sister was their teacher. They moved into Laramie so that she and her brother could attend junior high and high school. While attending Laramie High, she played clarinet in the band, and was active in art, square dancing, and rodeo. She graduated with honors in 1951 and enrolled in the University of Wyoming. She worked part time as a secretary to Dr. Northern who was writing a botany textbook. Dolly not only typed the book, she also did the art and illustrations.

In 1951, she met a friend of her brother's who was home on leave from the Marine Corps. They dated and were married June 28, 1953, and remained married for 59 years. She dropped out of the university and worked as a secretary for General Credit and the Christensen Insurance Company. Upon her husband's graduation, they moved to Gillette where she worked part-time as a secretary for the Presbyterian Church. They moved to Casper in 1960, and when her five children were all in school, she worked as a part time secretary for the school district, and later on, full time for the Wyoming Multiple Listing Service and the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra.

In Casper, she was active in Kappa Delta Alumni, Guardians of Bethel Nine of the Job's Daughters, Daughters of the Nile, and Service League. She was past-president of the Zilah Club and the Municipal Ladies Golf Association, danced with the Egyptians, and played bridge in several groups. Upon her husband's retirement, they spent many happy winters in Mesa, Arizona where she played golf and bridge and took up tole painting. When poor health prevented them from going to Arizona, they eventually moved into Park Place. She passed away August 27th at Central Wyoming Hospice.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Lee Malody of Casper; a brother, Dr. Bill Laycock (Charlotte) of Laramie; five children: Carol Larson (Bill) of Evanston, Dale Malody (Lorie) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dr. Lisa Malody (Dr. Laurence DeBoer), of Billings, Montana, Becky Carroll (Andy) of Billings, Montana, and Linda Henderson of Evansville, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and burial services at the family plot in Laramie will be done at a later date.
