Her maiden name was Lucretia Alteberry and she was born in Macon County, Ill., September 11, 1854. She was married to Reuben S. Brown in Macon City in 1871 and in 1887, they moved to Colby, Kansas, and later to Fillmore County, Nebr.

Thirteen children were born to this union, eleven of whom are living and were at her bedside at the time of her death.

She was a member of the U. B. Church of Strang and a good worker for the cause; a kind and most loving mother, a devoted wife and a kind neighbor, loved by all who knew her. At the time of her death she was 51 years, 7 months and 23 days old.

The funeral was conducted from the home on Friday afternoon, and interment made in the Geneva Cemetery, to which place a large concourse of friends and neighbors attended.

Blincow of Colby, Kansas, John Brown, of Sioux Falls, S. D., Mesdames, Belle Brown and Elizabeth Mallory, Tom Mallory, Aaron and Lafe Brown all of Edgar.

The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of the people of this community in this sad hour.
