Beavertown-Arietta E Thomas, 86, of Beavertown died at 5:30 pm Wednesday, Sept 27, 2000, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, where she had been a resident since 1995.
She was born May 8, 1914, in Middleburg, a daughter of the late Warren and Nettie (Musser) Earnest. In 1953 she married Lester Thomas, who died Jan 18, 1972.
She retired in 1981 from the Selinsgrove State School, where she had worked in food service for 11 years.
She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Chapter 910, Milton. She enjoyed flowers and dancing.
Surviving are one daughter Virginia "Ginny" Layton of West Milton; six grandchildren, Bonnie Swartz, Eugene and Kenneth Swartzlander, David, Michael and Sheldon III Layton; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Ethel Hook of Middleburg, Anna Spicher of Middleburg, and Doris Thompson of Liverpool.
She was prededed in death by one daughter, Betty Hare, in 1948; three brothers, Sherman, Russell and Charles Earnest; and two sisters, Laura Knepp and Grace Boyer.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm, Sunday at the Aurand Funeral Home, 316 Market St. Beavertown, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be conducted at 1 pm Mon, at the funeral home by the Rev Thomas Schroder.
Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
