Deceased Name: Ethel M. Hook, 88, Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG — Ethel M. Hook, 88, formerly of Paxtonville Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:45 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where she had resided for the past year.
She was born July 15, 1922, in Bellevue, Ohio, a daughter of the late Warren and Nettie (Musser) Earnest. On June 17, 1940, she married Clifford J. Hook also a resident at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
Ethel had attended the Beavertown and Troxelville schools and Moody Bible Institute, Chicago.
She retired in 1985 as a food service supervisor at the Selinsgrove Center. She also did Swedish massage therapy for 31 years.
She was a very faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years, as a youth leader, and a member of the United Methodist Woman and served as their president. Ethel always had a passion for missions. Early in life she had served as a Den Mother and loved to have friends in for dining.
Ethel had great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three grandchildren, Colleen M. Smith of Maryland, John S. Hook, of Ohio, and Matthew R. Hook, of Selinsgrove; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Spicher, of Middleburg, and Doris Thompson, of Liverpool.
She was preceded in death by her son, John A. Hook in 2009, three brothers, Sherman, Charles and Russell Earnest, and three sisters, Arietta Thomas, Laura Knepp, and Grace Boyer.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 51 S. Main St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at noon with the Rev. James W. Grubb officiating.
Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
