William Terry Hodges;

William was born 18 September 1843 near Ashville in
St. Clair County Alabama.

He was wounded at Reseca Georgia 22 July 1864. He had gone on the battlefield to get his uncle, John Higginson who died in the battle.
He was also wounded at Shiloh and carried that bullet
under his knee for the rest of his life.

William served as Treasurer and County Commissioner for St. Clair County. He was also a very active member of the
Confederate Veterans Association of St. Clair County
serving as Treasurer and Secretary.

He died 21 April 1919Co G 58th Alabama Infantry CSA


Terry was wounded at Reseca, Georgia on July 22, 1864. He had gone onto the battlefield to get his uncle John Higginson, husband of Terry's Aunt Delia. John Higginson died. Terry ws wounded again at Shiloh and carried that bullet under his knee for the rest of his life.
He was also wounded at Corinth, Mississippi in 1862.

April 24, 1919, The Southern Aegis: William Terry Hodges, aged 75, died at a local infirmary in Birmingham, at 11:30 o'clock monday morning.
Funeral services were held at Ashville wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Mr. Hodges was a confederate veteran and a deacon of the First Baptist Church. He was born in St. Clair County and associated with the most prosperous business establishments of our town and county, and was very prominent and popular with his accociates.
He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Libby Hodges; one daughter, Mrs. Sam Simpson, three sons, H.J. Hodges, of Hendersonville, N.C.; C.H. Percer Hodges, of Nashville; and D.H. Hodges, of Odenville; two brothers, Jas. A. Hodges, Ashville, and T.J. Hodges, Birmingham.
