Herrin- HELEN HAWKINS (ANTONINI) LOEH, of Herrin, passed away at 5:20pm on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Helen Hawkins was born in Herrin, the daughter of Elmer and Fannie (Gatlin) Hawkins. She and her sister, Ola Mae Gosnell, grew up and attended school in Herrin. She married Roy Antonini and from this union came two sons- Tom and wife Phyllis Antonini of Jesup, Georgia and Jack and wife Penny Antonini of Smithton, Illinois. She later married Alvin Loeh in Royalton on December 29, 1962. They shared forty-eight years of marriage until his passing on January 10, 2011.

Helen started her working career as a dental assistant for Dr. D.P. Travis of Herrin. She was a talented seamstress and worked for many years at Smolers and later as head of alterations at a shop in Carbondale. She also worked at Olin Corporation.

Mrs. Loeh was a member of the Bryant Street Baptist Church in Herrin.

Helen and Alvin spent many winters in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. They enjoyed traveling and visited many locations from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans.

Survivors include her two sons- Tom and wife Phyllis Antonini and Jack and Penny Antonini; four Grandchildren- Brian (Lisa) Antonini, Eric (Kasey) Antonini, Glen Antonini and Michelle Williams;Great Grandson- Roy Beavers .

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Alvin Loeh, and her sister- Ola Mae Gosnell.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Danny Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Miners Cemetery in Royalton. Visitation will be held from 11-2pm on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
