Alvin Edward "Al" Loeh, 84, of Herrin, passed away at 10:44 AM, Monday, January 10, 2011 at Herrin Hospital.

Alvin was born on August 18, 1926 in Royalton to Theodore & Anna (Sohn) Loeh. He went to Royalton School before joining the Navy during WWII. Once discharged, he went to work for the railroad. He later married Helen (Hawkins) Antonini on December 29, 1962 in Royalton and they shared forty eight years together.

He retired from Marion Federal Penitentiary after many years of service and prior to that he worked several years at Joliet and Menard Prisons.

He was a protestant and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In the winter, he enjoyed spending time in Texas.

Survivors include-

Wife- Helen Loeh of Herrin
Step son- Jack Antonini and wife Penny
Step son- Tom Antonini and wife Phyllis
Daughter- Susan Lentz
Daughter- Barbara Garland
Daughter- Beth Collins
Twelve Grandchildren
Six Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother- Theodore Loeh, Jr.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Danny Cash will officiate. Burial will follow at Miner's Cemetery in Royalton. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Thursday at the funeral home
