Amos Yost, 82, highly respected Mulberry resident, died at 3 a. m. last Sunday in the St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for but a few hours. Death was due to thrombosis.
He was born near Pettit, April 27, 1867, the son of David and Sarah Weaver Yost. On August 12, 1893, he was married to Myrtle Woodruff, who died September 29, 1944.
Two daughters survive, Mrs. Loyal Stephenson of Mulberry and Mrs. Velda Quinn, residing about four miles north of town. Other survivors are five grandchildren: Mrs. Lila Jackson of Kokomo, Lloyd Quinn of West Lafayette, Mrs. Jeannette Johnson, Mrs. Betty Buhler and Ned Stephenson; six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Orley Dunk of Lafayette route 4.
Mr. Yost formerly taught in the Tippecanoe and Clinton county schools and also engaged in farming. He retired about twelve years ago and with his wife moved from a farm south of Rossville to the former Keefer residence in Mulberry, which they had purchased.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Rossville Church of the Brethren, of which he was a member. The Rev. Mr. Wine officiated, and burial was in Pleasant View cemetery.
