David F. Yost was the son of Jacob Yost and Rachel Fouts. Born in 1832 in Preble County, Ohio, he came with his parents and siblings to Indiana about 1836. He married Mary Jane Weaver in 1855, She died in 1858, and he married a second time in 1863 to Sarah Weybright Lucas, whose husband, George F. Lucas, had died two years earlier in Miami Co, OH. David and Sarah were married in 1863 in Darke Co, OH. Their children were Charles W. and John F. Yost, children of David and Mary Jane; Daniel Frank and Malvina O Lucas, children of Sarah and George Lucas; and Aaron, Amos, David Jr., Rachel, and Nancy Elizabeth Yost, children of David and Sarah.
