Funeral services were held for Cornelia C. Braswell, 100, on Monday, November 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithville. Brother Dan Gulley officiated, with interment in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. She died on Friday, November 5, 2004 at NHC Health Care Center of Smithville of an extended illness.

A resident of Smithville, Mrs. Braswell was a retired teacher and a homemaker. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women Club, the DeKalb County Retired Teacher's Association and was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Nathan Cantrell and Clarence Braswell; a stepson, Carter Braswell; parents, Cleeve and Julia Cantrell; and by two brothers and three sisters, Clyde and Lloyd Cantrell, Grace Bain, Bess Elmore and Virginia Cantrell.
She is survived by her stepson, Luther Cantrell of Smithville; two stepdaughters, Lounette Nicol of Atlanta and Vanissa Murphy of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew. Pallbearers were Billy Willingham, Clay Farler, Amos Hedge, Joe Darrah, Dave Darrah and Glenn Nichols, Sr.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithville was in charge of the arrangements.
