Longtime Romeo resident Nona Osborn, 82, passed away on August 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 26, 1930 to Leonard Hughes and Ruth Leavitt Hughes in Mesquite, Nevada. She was later sealed to her stepfather Nelton A. Burgess and mother Ruth Leavitt Burgess.

She married her childhood sweetheart John R Osborn on December 18, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple.

She enjoyed hunting with her husband, fishing, camping and the outdoors and loved gardening. She especially loved to travel to visit her family members and she loved people in general and always gave of herself freely. Everyone who knew her loved her.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Nona is survived by her children Geraldine (Kenton) Goodge of Antonito, John M. (Patricia) Osborn of Lewisville, Texas, Lue Ann (Michael) Avdem of Peyton, Colo., Shirlene Killian of La Jara, Charlotte (David) Muniz of La Jara and Janeen (Les) Hawkins of Sanford, Burgess siblings Denny (Mary Kay) Burgess of American Fork, Utah, Vernal (Arba) Burgess of Levan, Utah, Jay Burgess of Provo, Utah and Darvin (Lorna) Burgess of Lehi, Utah, Hughes siblings Melvin (Iome) Hughes of Mesquite, Nevada, Kara Lynn (Dennis) Allen of Cedar City, Utah, Sandra (Clyde) Raston of Tocoma, Washington, Gyen Olson of Mesquite, Nevada, Lynn (Jolynne) Hughes of Salt Lake City Utah, as well as 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John R Osborn, one infant son, her brothers Jerry Burgess, Dewey Burgess, Doan Burgess and one great grandchild.

A Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Manassa Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manassa. Interment will follow services in the Manassa Cemetery.

Contributions are suggested to the Baylor Hospital in Nona's name for cancer research in care of the funeral home office. Arrangements are in care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Manassa.
