Nellie Viola Larrabee Flanigan, age 90, died 9 October 2004 at Iron County Nursing Home in Parowan, Utah of causes incident to age. She was born 24 August 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah the youngest of 11 children to Thomas T. and Martha Gowin Larrabee. She graduated from East High School. While employed as a stenographer legal secretary for Irvine, Skeen, and Thurman she met Elsworth Flanigan. They were married 15 August 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six children, Jackie (Willis, deceased) Robinson of Taylorsville, UT, Joy (deceased) Ralph Sharp of Sandy, UT, Lark (Georgia) Flanigan of Enoch, UT, Glenna (Michael) Gibbons Scottsdale, AZ, Denise (deceased), Shane Flanigan of Cedar City, UT. She has 21 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. One of the highlights of her working career was being the secretary at the LDS Institute in Cedar City for 13 years. She and Elsworth served an LDS mission in Tennessee, which they enjoyed very much. She also worked in the St. George Temple, was a Primary president, and served in many other church callings. Her parents family, living in the Eastern States, converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and moved to Salt Lake City, where their last two children were born. Nellie was able to get acquainted with many of the cousins in Pennsylvania and New York when returning from their mission. She was very grateful for the opportunity to see the birthplace of some of her family. Funeral services held Wednesday, 13 October 2004at the Cedar City 4th Ward Chapel (500 West 400 North). Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
