Our pillar of strength, bastion of integrity, and shining example of compassion and love continues his eternal journey. He died peacefully at his home on August 21, 2012.

Allan was born in Leland, Utah on July 14, 1930. As a boy he quickly learned the value of hard work. He would do his chores on his father's farm and then work for other farmers in the area. His parents were very strict about being honest, trustworthy, and treating others with kindness and respect. These characteristics would define his life.

Allan graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1949 then attended Utah Vocational School (now UVU). He served in the Army 145th Field Artillery Battalion, Company C during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. He met his sweetheart Marilyn Taylor on a blind date stating, "She stole my heart immediately". They married in the Manti Temple on January 8, 1951. They lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Payson, and Provo. In 1980, they built a home on the Davis farm land in Leland.

A man of action who could not stand to be idle, he was a skilled refrigeration and air conditioning technician. He worked for Provo City, and later the Utah Vocational School (now UVU) where he became the Department Chair for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology. He had a keen understanding of youth and would go out of his way to provide the extra support they needed in achieving success. Doing service calls on the side, he was known for his integrity and reliability. Even after turning 80 he would receive service calls from clients who relied on his expertise, honesty and dependability.

Allan's recreation was farming. He loved to work his land and took great pride in being able to provide beef and fresh vegetables for his family. Working alongside his posterity brought him great joy as he showed his work ethic by example.

Allan had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to serving others. He served as Bishop in the Provo Park Ward, as a missionary with his wife in the Mississippi Jackson Mission, as a Provo Temple worker, and countless other callings. His counsel was to take care of your relationship with the Savior and your family and everything else would fall into place.

A fiercely devoted patriarch, his greatest joy was his family. His absolute favorite thing in life was to be surrounded by his eight children, 40 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. Family gatherings could be loud and chaotic but he enjoyed every minute. He would silence everyone with a loud whistle and with tears in his eyes express his love and appreciation for each one.

Allan is survived by his wife, Marilyn Taylor Davis, brother Clare H. Davis, brother-in-law Ronald Davis; children, Diane Wilde (Jeffery), Mary Jane Ostler (Harold), Bruce Davis (Sharlene), Laura Dastrup (Craig), Margaret Clark (Darin), Jeanette Watts (Michael), Bryce Davis (Holly), and Brian Davis (Angela). Allan was preceded in death by baby brothers Lester Davis, Courtney Davis, Welby Davis, and Bryce Davis; sisters, Blanche Nielson, Mary Anderson, and Lorraine Davis; and grandchild Mathew Clark.
