Born May 29, 1926 at the family home in Leland, Utah, daughter of Earl Howell Davis and Eleanor Jane Larsen. She was delivered by Mrs. Poulson, a local midwife, who delivered nearly all the babies in town. Mrs. Poulson would gently bounce the newborn baby in her hand and say, "About 8 pounds."

Lorraine grew up on her father's farm in Leland, and worked there with her family. She also worked on grandma Mary Fidelia Davis' farm on Cal Pac Drive.

She went to school in the little, two-room, red-brick school house in Leland through the 6th grade and then attended Jr. High and High School in Spanish Fork. She enjoyed school activities, was Jr. Class Secretary, Student Body Secretary and attendant to the Harvest Ball Queen. She graduated in 1944 and went to work for the State Agricultural Office at the courthouse in Provo. "We were expected to get a job to help the war effort."

Lorraine met a soldier home on leave, Ronald Davis, at a high school football game in the fall of 1943. They dated a couple of times and "Ron" returned to active duty in Europe. They corresponded by mail while he was away and dated again for seven or eight months after he returned from the war in 1946. They were married on November 6, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple by Joseph Fielding Smith, who was President of the Salt Lake Temple at that time.

Together they had three children: Kathleen, Dennis and Roger, followed by ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were her "Crown Jewels."

Lorraine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was always active, serving as Relief Society President, Young Women President twice, Stake and Ward Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, and many other callings. She loved to teach most of all.

In 1960, she went to work for the telephone company for a "six-week job," which ended up lasting over eighteen years as a service representative. Later she worked about two years as secretary for the Spanish Fork Chamber of Commerce and then decided to support Howard C. Nielson as he ran for the U.S. House of Representatives. She worked eight years for him, three 1/2 in Washington, DC as his personal secretary and four 1/2 in Provo as Assistant State Director over all of Utah County.

She liked to cook, garden, knit, travel, paint, do hand work, and much, much more. She also liked to write short stories and was recently published in Tom Brokaw's 2nd book of "The Greatest Generation."

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Blanch (Merrell) Nielson, four brothers, Lester, Courtney, Welby and Bryce Davis, and one grandson, Aaron Davis.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Davis, one sister, Mary (Keith) Anderson, two brothers, Alan (Marilyn) Davis and Clare (Pat) Davis, three children, Kathleen (Craig) Moffat, Dennis (Jan) Davis and Roger (Geena) Davis, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spanish Fork Second Ward Chapel, 98 South Main Street, with Bishop Brian Hansen officiating. Viewings for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, and Friday morning prior to the Funeral Services from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
