From 1949 through 1966, she was the nurse director of Central services and Executive Housekeeper at Hollzer Hospital in downtown Gallipolis.
In 1950, she became the first elected secretary of the National executive Housekeepers Association. She also helped establish two-year associate degree and four year BS degree programs in executive housekeeping in the United States. In 1965, Mrs. Wetherholt established the national office of NEHA in Gallipolis and also helped establish new NEHA chapters in the United States and Canada.
In 1970, Mrs. Wetherholt resigned the office of executive secretary to accept the office of executive housekeeper at the White House in Washington, D.C. She was unable to fill that appointment because of ill health.
