Appel Service On Wednesday


Services for Edward W. Appel, 87, of 908 No. 8th St., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastor Milton Welshahn will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. He died Sunday at a Norfolk hospital. The body will lie in state from 3 - 9 p.m. at the Houser Mortuary.

He was born May 11, 1889, at Millard, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Appel. He married Olga Schermer on Nov. 26, 1913 in Wayne County. He farmed in Douglas, Wayne and Stanton Counties until he retired to Norfolk in 1957.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Koepke of Hoskins, three sons, Elmer of Ft. Calhoun, Harold of Stanton and Gilbert of Hoskins, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers, George of Tilden and Art of Omaha, and two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Mamie) Hansen of Tekamah and Mrs. Louise Nuremburg.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. His wife died in July 1972.
