Dwayne Barr, 87, of Rankin passed away at 10:55 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 18, 2012) at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1924 in Rankin, a son of Lawrence and Rebekah Newkirk Barr. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Barr.
He married Virginia Hofer in Rankin on June 27, 1954. She survives. He is also survived by one daughter; one son; one brother; one sister; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Algiers Naval Base in New Orleans. He was a rural mail carrier for 36 years, having retired in June 1992.
