Adelia Kohl, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kohl, town of Rock, died in a hospital in Janesville Saturday from burns received at the home of her brother-in-law and sister on a farm at Sullivan, about 30 miles from Janesville, three weeks preceding. The body was brought to the home of her parents and the funeral was held from the Nasonville Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon.
The story of the accident is that her clothes caught fire while filling an oil stove and that, failing to extinguish the flames by rolling on the floor, she ran to the barn, where the family were at the time. Her brother-in-law responded to her cries for help by throwing a blanket over her, which subdued the flames, but, fanned by the wind in her run from the house to the barn, they already had made such inroads upon her person that she sank into unconsciousness. Medical aid was hurriedly summoned. Later she was taken to the hospital in Janesville.
The unfortunate young girl was born and reared in the town of Rock. About two months ago she went to Sullivan to help her sister at housework. Surviving besides her parents are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Arthur Juneau, Wausau; Mrs. Adolph Dudeck, Beloit; Mrs. Rush Wentworth, Sullivan, Wis.; Mrs. Edwin Ott, Bakerville; Viola, May, Mildred, Walter, Alfred and Paul, town of Rock.
Those who were here from out of town for the funeral are: Mrs. Henry Kohl and Mrs. Zastrow and son of West Bend, Wis.; Theodore and Paul Kohl and families, Mr. and Mrs. William Kohl, Mrs. Frank Juneau and Arthur Juneau and family, all of Wausau.
