DOROTHY MARY BROWN
Born in Baker City, Oregon on Jan. 28, 1919
Departed on Aug. 17, 2012 and resided in La Grande, OR.
Celebration of Life: Wednesday, Sep. 5, 2012 2:00 pm
Dorothy Mary Brown, of La Grande, passed away at her residence on Friday, August 17, 2012. She was 93 years old. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5th, at the La Grande Senior Center, 1504 North Albany Street in La Grande. Dottie was born January 28, 1919 in Baker City, Oregon to her parents, John and Rosina (Di Micco) Luciani. She attended school in Echo, Oregon where she played volleyball, soccer and tennis. She was also a member of the boy's baseball team. She graduated from Echo High School. On December 2, 1936, she married James Arvin "Jimmie" Brown. Dottie was a musician. She taught music lessons and also was employed as a nurse's aide. She received numerous awards and recognition for her years of volunteering her time and music. Besides music, she enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved playing the piano, caring for her puppies and spending time with family and friends. Dottie is survived by 2 daughters and their spouses, Jackie and Bill Davis and Connie and Ray Williams of La Grande; daughter-in-law Charlotte Brown of La Grande; brother George Luciani and his wife Beatrice of Echo; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren; 1 nephew, 4 nieces; special friend George Neer and family friend Willie Myers. She is also survived by her special friends in the Dottie Brown and Co. Band. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie; her parents, John and Rosina; son, J J Jiggs Brown; 3 grandsons, Billy Davis, Jimmy Brown, and infant son Jonathan Gregory Brown; and two sisters Marion Hibbert and Carmel Borghese. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dottie may be made to the La Grande Senior Center Community Connection Nutrition Department, in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 4th Street, La Grande OR 97850.
