OBITUARIES
JAMES A. BROWN
James (Jimmie) Brown, formerly of La Grande, died Wednesday at Boise Hospital. He was 71. Mr. Brown was born April 5, 1914, in Nelsonville, KY., to Charles and Burnette Brown. He moved to Stanfield to work with the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935. He married Dorothy Mary (Luciani) on Dec. 2, 1936, in Pasco, Wash. He was a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years until he retired in July 1974. He and his wife lived in La Grande for 21 years. In 1976, they moved to Fruitland, Idaho. He was a member of the United Transportation Union, Union Pacific Old timers and Eagles Aerie No. 3803, Payette, Idaho. He also was a musician. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dotty); son, Jiggs Brown, La Grande; daughters, Jackie Davis, Payette, Idaho, and Connie Williams, La Grande; brother, Golden of Boston, KY.; sisters Clara Ambrose, Blondina Luttrell, and Grace Bolton, all of Louisville, KY., and Miranda Sidebottom, Lebanon Junction, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of God Seventh-day in Meridian, Idaho, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, Payette. Family members suggest memorials to the heart and lung associations.
