James F. Keister's military record shows in 1861 his age was 26 and he was assigned to the Twenty-fifth Virginia Infantry (Heck's Regiment). In 1863, Sixty-second Mounted Infantry (First Partisan Rangers, Sixty-second Partisan Rangers, Sixty-second Infantry, Sixty-second Cavalry, Imboden's Partisan Rangers). James died from wounds. His place of death was "ZZ, hhh," per military records. Does Anyone know what the code means?
