Noble was the son of Willian Crawford Brooks and Mary Timmons Brooks. He married Nancy Armaretta Moore, daughter of John Keller Moore and Frances Independence Garrison, February 7, 1867 in Cherokee County, Georgia. They had nine children and all but one was born at the William Crawford Brooks homeplace.

He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. After the war he farmed and taught school.
