Benjamin S. Merrill was the son of David Merrill and Charity Gulick. He married Mary Hester Wagner in Columbia County, Pennsylvania on July 31, 1818. They were the parents of 4 sons and three daughters named as follows:

Jesse Wagner Merrill
Hester Elizabeth Merrill (married Charles Sterner)
Clark Merrell
Mary Catherine Merrill (married Nathan Bittenbender)
and John Rosenberry Merrell.

Howard and Lillian Merrill, who have done extensive research regarding all Merrills in America, have attributed Benjamin to David Merrell and Charity Gulick. Charity Gulick died young. David Merrell married second to Elizabeth Rosenberry. Elizabeth would have been the mother that Benjamin Merrell grew up with. Benjamin Merrell gave his son, John, the middle name of Rosenberry which supports that his parentage would be David Merrell and Charity Gulick. I would welcome any physical proof (church records, family Bible entries, etc.) which proves this one way or another. Thank You
