PERKINS B. H. farmer and justice of the peace, Sec. 9, P. O. Peoria, was born in Danbury, Fairfield county, Conn., Jan. 12, 1832, and is the son of Sands and Abbie Perkins, nee Helm, natives of Rhode Island. His mother died in his early infancy, and he received the advantages of the common schools in his native town until the age of sixteen, when he came with his father to Illinois, settling in Princeville township, Peoria county, July 4, 1848. Previous to coming, his father had purchased a farm on Sec. 4, and there they resided for three years, thence removing to Richwoods township, and settling on Sec. 9, on the land Mr. Perkins now occupies. He has resided there sever since. He married in April, 1862, Miss Eliza Overend, a native of Ohio, by whom he has six children, all living—Abbie Helm, Annie May, Jennie, Susan Mary and George Sands. He owns 260 acres of land, eighty of which are under pasture, and the rest cultivated, worth about $35 an acre clear through. His father died on the old homestead Jan., 1860. Mr. Perkins has filled the office of justice of the peace for nine years, and his decisions give general satisfaction.

BERNON HELME7 PERKINS (SANDS6, SANDS5, NATHANIEL4, TABITHA3 NILES, NATHANIEL2, JOHN1) was born January 12, 1832 in Danbury, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, and died November 03, 1899 in Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois. He married ELIZABETH ANN OVEREND April 18, 1863 in Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois. She was born January 18, 1845 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, and died June 12, 1896 in Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois.
