The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Eugene, for Gladys Luisa Alexander of Springfield, who died Aug. 18 of age-related causes. She was 93.

She was born June 21, 1918, in Franklin, Texas, to Jesse and Emma Wolf Mercer. She married William Alexander on Oct. 22, 1940, in Roswell, N.M.

She completed 10th grade. She worked as a caregiver and laundry person in a nursing home. She retired in 1980.

Survivors include three sons, Tom Alexander of Springfield, John Alexander of Landers, Calif., and James Alexander of Fritch, Texas; a daughter, Betty Hodnett of Sitka, Alaska; a brother, William Mercer of Kingsburg, Calif.; four sisters, Helen Arnold of Wichita Falls, Texas, Cleo Mercer of Houston, Laura Hasbrouck of Alamagardo, N.M., and Freida Lynch of Pasadena, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in March 2003 and a daughter, Sarah, in 1957.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at Sunset Hills Funeral Home. Arrangements by Sunset Hills Cemetery, Funeral Home & Crematorium in Eugene.
