He was born on May 4, 1919 in Hilliard, Wyoming the son of William Powell and Alice (Hutchinson) Lester. He grew up on a ranch in Hilliard, Wyoming.
On March 23, 1942 he married Ida Vina Cook in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was a hard worker and self-employed. He loved being in the mountains with his family. He enjoyed working in the garden and being around livestock of any kind. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served two full time missions with his wife in the Baton Rouge, LA and San Jose, CA missions and a stake mission. He loved the scriptures.
He is survived by his children: Carol Griffin of Far West, UT; William S. Lester, West Valley City, UT; and Ida Marie (Dave) Hatch, West Valley City, UT; J. Wayne (RaNee) Lester of Riverton, UT; C. Jeannie (Keith) Lange, Evanston, WY; Linda K. (Terry) Christensen, Centerfield, UT; Connie A. (Brent) Wonacott, Bluffdale, UT;
Also 33 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ida Vina Cook, his parents, eight grandchildren and 13 siblings.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hilliard LDS ward chapel, twelve miles south of Evanston on highway 150 South. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crandall Funeral Home, 800 Uinta Street in Evanston.
Interment will be in the Evanston City Cemetery
